What is Halloween?
Halloween falls on the 31st October of every year and is the day before All Hallows' Day, also known as All Saints' Day in the Christian calendar. Traditionally, the Christian Church held a vigil on All Hallows' Eve when worshippers would prepare themselves with prayers and fasting prior to the feast day itself.

The name Halloween – now synonymous with ghouls and witches – actually derives from the Old English word 'hallowed' meaning holy or sanctified. This is now usually contracted to the more familiar word Hallowe'en, but how did this day become associated with all things ’unchristian’?

 

Well, the date of Halloween, 31st October, marked the end of the Celtic year and was believed to be the day when the spirits of those who died in the previous year would come back and possess a body of the living to allow themselves to pass into the afterlife. 
However, the people who were still living were not keen on being possessed and would dress up in scary costumes to try and frighten away spirits. And this is the how the modern Halloween holiday was born.
Modern Halloween 
So nowadays, Halloween is mostly a time when people dress in scary costumes, go ‘trick or treating’, display carved pumpkins and play traditional Halloween games, such as apple bobbing.

Trick or treating involves dressing up in costumes and knocking on neighbours doors for treats. If treats are not given then tricks are played on the neighbour. It is thought to have come from a traditional European custom called 'souling'. It is believed that Christians used to go from door to door in villages to ask for soul cakes and for every cake you gave them they would say a prayer for one of your dead relatives.

 

Apple bobbing is a game traditionally played on Halloween. A number of apples are placed in a large bowl of water. Players have to try to catch one of the apples using only their teeth. The hands must remain behind the back at all times. This game is believed to date back to Roman times when Romans used to celebrate Pomona, their goddess of fruit, in October. The symbol for Pomona was an apple.

Carving a face in to a pumpkin and placing a candle inside is to represent the Irish folklore about a man called Jack. It is believed that Jack was a notorious trickster and once even managed to trap the Devil up a tree. When Jack died, he was refused from heaven because of his bad behaviour and in revenge for being trapped up a tree, the Devil refused Jack entry into hell. Instead, he gave him a single ember to guide him through the darkness. The folklore tells us that the ember was said to be placed inside a turnip to make it last longer. Over time the turnip has changed to a pumpkin.

Pondupol.............

Pandupol Pandupole is made of two words i. e. Pandu & Pole. Infact Pandu stands for Pandawas; the five brother heroes of the Mahabharat where “Pole” means “Gate”. The Hindu Mythological belief is that the pandava brothers in a historical game of gamble against their cousions the Kauravas; lost the right to the throne and accepted an exile for thirteen years with the condition that the thirteenth year’s exile should be spent in disguise and if during this year their identity get disclosed then they will have to repeat the entire term of exile once again. It is believed that the thick forests of Sariska tiger land provided the necessary hide out to the Pandavas during their thirteenth year’s exile but the enemy spies could pierce through this top secret and started a thorough search operation by vigorously combing these forests. The Pandavas flew towards Pandupole side where they got traped on all the three sides by hillocks. They could not go back as well for fear of the enemy and then “Bhim”; the mighty brother made a gateway through the confronting hillock by using his historic mace and finally succeeded in their mission. After this legend this gateway was named as “Pandupole”. This is situated at about 21km. from the main entrance of the Sariska Sanctuary. Presently this is 20ft by 15ft wide hole at a height of 300ft from the ground. During monsoon spring flows through this gateway and is a source of great attractin to every tourist visiting Sariska.

Mandir Shri Pandupol Hanuman Ji

Cause of Establishment:The bridge of Pandupol is related to the Pandavas who spent part of their time in exile here incognito. At one place, there are two hills meet together. The way was obstructed which was broken upon by Bheem, the most powerful of the Pandavas with his Gada (mace). The result was a door like opening in the rock out of which flows a natural water stream. This beautiful scene and national spot has become all the more sacred and it is haunted by the Hanuman temple which is close by this water stream. It is said that the Hanuman temple was founded by Sant Nirbhaya Dassji Maharaj, who was a devotee of Lord Hanuman and hence in this thick forest, he founded this temple of Hanuman ji which has been now fully constructed and attracts thousands and thousands of people. Situated midst the game century of Sariska, the place has special charm. On every Tuesday and Saturday, people visit the temple in great numbers because these two days are held sacred to Lord Hanumanji.

महर्षि वाल्मीकि.......

पुराणों के अनुसार महर्षि वाल्मीकि का जन्म नागा प्रजाति में हुआ था। ऋषि मुनि बनने से पूर्व वे एक डाकू थे जिन्हें रत्नाकर नाम से जाना जाता था।

मनुस्मृति के अनुसार वे प्रचेता, वशिष्ठ, नारद, पुलस्त्य आदि के भाई थे। उनके बारे में एक और किंवदन्ती है कि बाल्यावस्था में ही उनको एक निःसंतान भीलनी ने चुरा लिया था और बड़े ही प्रेम से उनका लालन-पालन किया। उक्त भीलनी के जीवनयापन का मुख्य साधन दस्यु कर्म का था। जिसे वाल्मीकि ने अपने भरण-पोषण के दौरान अपना लिया था।

जब वाल्मीकि एक तरूण युवा हो गए तब उनका विवाह उसी समुदाय की एक भीलनी से कर दिया गया। विवाह बाद वे कई संतानों के पिता बने और उन्हीं के भरण-पोषण के लिए उन्होंने पाप कर्म को ही अपना जीवन मानकर और भी अधिक घोर पाप करने लगे।

एक बार उन्होंने वन से गुजर रहे साधुओं की मंडली को ही हत्या की धमकी दे दी। साधु के पूछने पर उन्होंने इस बात को स्वीकार किया कि वे यह सब अपने पत्नी और बच्चों के लिए कर रहे है। तब साधु ने उन्हें समझाइश दी और कहा कि जो भी पाप कर्म तुम कर रहे हो, उसका दंड केवल तुम्हें ही भुगतना पड़ेगा।

तब साधु ने उन्हें कहा कि तुम जाकर अपने परिवार वालों से पूछकर आओ कि क्या वे तुम्हारे इस पाप के भागीदार बनेंगे। इस बात पर जब उनकी पत्नी और बच्चों ने अपनी असहमती प्रदान की और कहा कि हम आपके इस पाप कर्म में भागीदार नहीं बनेंगे। तब वाल्मीकि को अपने द्वार किए गए पाप कर्म पर बहुत पछतावा हुआ और उन्होंने साधु मंडली को मुक्त कर दिया।

साधु मंडली से क्षमा मांग कर जब वाल्मीकि लौटने लगे तब साधु ने उन्हें तमसा नदी के तट पर 'राम-राम' नाम जप ही अपने पाप कर्म से मुक्ति का यही मार्ग बताया। लेकिन भूलवश वाल्मीकि राम-राम की जगह 'मरा-मरा' का जप करते हुए तपस्या में लीन हो गए। इसी तपस्या के फलस्वरूप ही वह वाल्मीकि के नाम से प्रसिद्ध हुए और रामायण की महान रचना की। इसलिए उन्हें आदिकवि के नाम से पुकारा गया और यही नाम आगे चलकर 'वाल्मीकि रामायण' के नाम से अमर हो गए।

अपने डाकू के जीवन के दौरान एक बार उन्होंने देखा कि एक बहेलिए ने सारस पक्षी के जोड़े में से नर पक्षी का वध कर दिया और मादा पक्षी जोर-जोर से ‍विलाप कर रही है। उसका मादक विलाप सुन कर वाल्मीकि के मन में करुणा जाग उठी और वे अत्यंत दुखी हो उठे।

उस दुखभरे समय के दौरान उनके मुंह से अचानक ही एक श्र्लोक निकल गया- 'मां निषाद प्रतिष्ठां त्वमगमः शाश्वतीः समाः। यत्क्रौंचमिथुनादेकम् अवधीः काममोहितम्।।' अर्थात्- अरे बहेलिए, तूने काम मोहित होकर मैथुनरत क्रौंच पक्षी को मारा है, अब तुझे कभी भी प्रतिष्ठा प्राप्त नहीं होगी।

इस श्र्लोक के साथ ही वाल्मीकि को एक अलग ही ज्ञान प्राप्ति का अनुभव हुआ तथा उन्होंने 'रामायण' जैसे प्रसिद्ध महाकाव्य की रचना कर दी। जिसे आम भाषा में 'वाल्मीकि रामायण' भी कहा जाता है। इसीलिए वाल्मीकि को प्राचीन भारतीय महर्षि माना जाता हैं।

ऋषि वाल्मीकि द्वारा रचित रामायण एक ऐसा महाकाव्य है जो हमें प्रभु श्रीराम के जीवन काल का परिचय करवाता है। जो उनके सत्यनिष्ठ, पिता प्रेम और उनका कर्तव्य पालन और अपने माता तथा भाई-बंधुओं के प्रति प्रेम-वात्सल्य से रूबरू करवा कर सत्य और न्याय धर्म के मार्ग पर चलने की प्रेरणा देता है।

ऐसे महान संत और आदिकवि का जन्म दिवस आश्विन मास की शरद पूर्णिमा के दिन मनाया जाता है।

रिश्ते .........

जिन्दगी में कभी कभी कुछ इसे रिश्ते ऐसे रिश्ते बनते है, जिनका न कोई नाम होता है, न हम उन रिश्तो को बयां कर सकते है/

ना कोई पहेचान  होती है/

सिर्फ मंजिले अलग होती है तौ उन रिश्तो को छोड़ना पड़ता है / इसे मोड़ पे खड़े रहते है जहा से वो वापिस नहीं  लाये जाते है........

यह बात है उन रिश्तो  की ........... जिनसे कुछ सुकून के पल .....जो  उन रिश्तो ने हमें दिए है .....

जो बड़े ही नसीबो से मिलते है/

 जो हमें तकलीफे जेलने में हिम्मत देते है.....बड़े अनमोल होते है वो रिश्ते जो हमें रोते वक़्त बी हसते रहने की  हिम्मत देते है... जिन्दगी की जंग जितने के लिए  उनकी मुस्कान ही काफी होती है.......

इन रिश्तो को  नाम नहीं दो , बेनाम ही रहे तो अच्छा है!!!!!!

ये रिश्ते  कभी हमारी मुस्कुराने की वजह होते है ,,,, ऐसे  सवालो के जवाब होते है , जिन परेशानियो में इन्सान पूरी उम्र उलझा रहता है /

इन रिश्तो  को महकने दो ....... मुस्कुराने दो ...... और खुदी को महकाओ/

जिन्दगी कभी नहीं ठहरती, वो चलती जाती है, रिश्ता बी महकता है/

पर हकीकत में जिन्दगी कुछ और है/ थोड़ी सांस ली , ठहरा और सोचा के चाहे नाम क्यों न हो इस रिश्ते का  जो बी है उसे स्वीकार कर के उसे अपना बनाया  है/ 

जो बीत गया वो कल था , जो आज है वो परम आनंद है -ख़ुशी है , क्यों न उस रिश्ते को जिउ में?

जिसने मुझे कल  में से निकल कर आज में जीना सिखाया और आने वाले कल को जीने क लिए उम्मेदे दी, शक्ति दी!!!!

संभालना है उस रिश्ते को मुझे जिसने मेरे अश्क मुझसे ले कर सिर्फ ख़ुशी और मुस्कराहते रहने की ताकत दी!!

मेरी मुझसे पहचान कराइ/

भले वो ना हो सका मेरा .......पर हर पल का साथ होने का एहसास दिया,  जिसे पाने से बी ज्यादा अपने अन्दर में एक जगह दी/

यह उनका रिश्ता एसा है जो अब कल का  भय  नहीं दे रहा पर  आनेवाले कल के  खुबसूरत सुबह की आहट दे रहा है/

नहीं देना उस रिश्ते को नाम  मुझे!!!

इसे ही उसके साथ रहना है मुझे, ताकि कल कोई आए मेरे जैसा  जिसका में वो खुबसूरत रिश्ता बन सकू!!!!!!!!

जब अगर पाने की तम्मान्ना छुट जाती है तो रिश्ता बहोत खुबसूरत मक़ाम पर खड़ा होता है !!!! फर्क सिर्फ हमारे नजरिये का है!!!!!!
